Don Bosco Kakuma belongs to the world wide society of Salesians of Don Bosco ( founded by St. John Bosco (1815-1888) in Italy which today operates in about 140 countries. The main activities of their works are geared towards the human and intellectual formation of young people. The Salesians of Don Bosco East Africa Province (AFE) have been operating in East Africa since 1980, namely in Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan and South Sudan. Sudan and South Sudan together is a semi-independent entity of the Province. Don Bosco Kakuma started in 1993, it is an educational and charitable institution owned and administered by the Salesians of Don Bosco Eastern Africa ( It has a well  established presence in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Turkana County in the diocese of Lodwar. Our vision  is to be a centre of hope and transformation that serves the youth in the camp and the local community to be self-reliant and regain their dignity under the charismatic style of Don Bosco that advances justice, peace and integrity of creation.
